Chapter 165. A Dark Tunnel

Sneaking a body through a castle shouldn’t be that difficult, but I have a few close calls with guards patrolling and a few guests who got lost in the labyrinth of hallways when they left the ballroom. Lex and Ivy should be waiting in the tunnel so we can all escape together. I have heard of a secret tunnel that goes through the cave without having to use the hanging bridges. I’m not sure I can carry Lydia while trying to not fall into the watery depths of death below, so I’m glad for an alternate route.

I’m near to my destination when the head guard, Sergei, appears down a hallway. I have to stop myself in time to prevent myself from bumping into the other vampire. His blue eyes look at me curiously. Then he sees the body wrapped up in a sheet in my arms.

“Roman, why are you carrying a body around with you?” he asks. “You’re assigned to guard the hallway near the ballroom. Why did you leave your post?’
