Chapter 164. Love Potion Number One

Ivy’s hazel eyes stare at me in shock. Her gaze bores into me as she tries to decipher if I’m serious or not. A younger me would have laughed and made a whole production out of this situation. I don’t have the same need to turn everything into a joke anymore.
“What?” she asks me, perplexed.
“I need a love potion,” I explain. “I thought you might be able to brew up something. I will compensate you for your time. Whatever you want.”
“That’s not what I’m concerned with,” she snaps. “Why do you need a love potion?”
Not sure exactly how to begin, I blurt out the most obvious statement I can think of. “I’m married.”
“Yes. I know.” Even in the near darkness, I can see her batting her eyelashes at me, waiting for me to continue.
