Chapter 12
Vera was forced to kneel for the hearing. There was a body. A dried body in a large pan placed in the center of the room. Except for the red light, which wasn't so bright and made everyone appear blurry, the room was dark.
"You killed him?" The hoarse echoing voices came again. There were movements in the room. But it stopped almost immediately.
Vera looked at their faces. She didn't know if she was supposed to answer or say anything. She just stared. Alle Carson moved to her side and patted her. To her ears, she came closer and whispered, "You should respond, and you must be sure of not saying anything false. Do not be afraid, the verdict is not harsh. It is your first time." She smiled, and when Vera looked closely at her face contours, she was gone. She turned around, but she didn't see her anywhere. Not even in the position where she was standing before.
