Chapter 32
Matheus entered the cabin with Sofia in his arms; the place was truly enchanting.
“Look, Sofia, we have a fireplace.”
“Even in summer, it gets quite cold here.”
“Did you come here often?”
“Yes, when we were kids, my siblings and I caused a lot of mischief around this lake. This place was our stronghold, where we broke bones, lost teeth, and fought. My mother would go crazy.”
“And your grandfather?”
“Him too! There was this one time we stole a horse from the stables because it was going to be sold, and we hid it here. We were terrible! But my siblings went to school, and I was left alone.”
“It seems old. When was it built?”
“My grandfather used to host a lot of people because of the stables. He thought it was better to build this place specifically for my grandmother’s heats so she could have privacy.”
“I can imagine the trouble. You without a heat already create a scene; it must be genetic.”
