Chapter 129. The Plan Worked

Nate stood frozen in the doorway, his expression a mixture of shock, anger, and betrayal. Maddie and Jacob, caught in the staged intimate position, quickly pulled away from each other, pretending to be filled with guilt and surprise. 

“What the hell is this?” Nate’s voice was low and dangerous, barely controlled. He could feel the anger and betrayal pushing the adrenaline through his veins. He could not even believe his eyes, was he hallucinating?

Maddies heart pounded in her chest as she scrambled to cover herself with a nearby blanket. Her heart was not thumping because of what she was doing with Jacob but because she was worried if any of this was going to be believable or not.
