Chapter 127. Breakfast

Vanessa led Maddie through the villa, down a series of winding hallways and grand staircases. Maddie could not help but marvel at the opulence around her, though it only made her feel more out of place. 

They finally reached a set of double doors that Vanessa pushed open with a flourish. Maddie’s eyes widened as they entered a beautifully set dining room, sunlight streaming through large windows, casting a warm glow over a lavish breakfast spread. 

Maddie’s stomach grumbled some more when she saw what was laid out on the table; fresh fruits, pastries, and an array of hot dishes that seemed to be made not too long ago. 

“Wow,” She breathed out, her eyes dating around the room. “This…this is something.” 

Vanessa smirked, clearly pleased with Maddie’s reaction. “I thought you might like it. Figured you deserved a proper meal before we get into the thick of things today.”
