Chapter 246. Back Home

Jacob was the one driving the car back to the pack, Lara was next to him and they had been in silence for the past few minutes. The only sound was the wind blowing in the car and the humming of the engine. 

“You do know that I’m not going with you back to the pack, right?” Lara broke the silence. 

“Wait, what?” The guy peeled his eyes from the road for a few seconds, glancing at the woman. “Why?” 

“I have somewhere else I have to be, I don’t belong to your pack. And there are other packs that need my services, Jacob. Don’t take it personally, I’m sure everything will be fine.” 

“Everything will be fine?” Jacob looked back at the road. “Lara, I’m Maddie’s closest friend right now, and I’m her ex. She literally has been broken out of prison and is nowhere to be found back in the pack, while at the same time, I go missing for a few hours; what do you think will happen? What do you think the elders will think?”
