Chapter 99

Author’s POV

Rhea felt a heavy block on her chest. It was thick, her lungs expanded but air didn’t reach them and then it was too tight. She opened her eyes but met nothing. Everything was dark, she was sure she was in hell.

She looked around but there was nothing to see in the dark. As she tried to lift her hands, it felt like trying to lift tonnes of blocks. It was too heavy, her head felt like it was being hit at fifty miles per minute.

For a second she knew she was dead but she wasn’t sure where she was. Was this how the underworld was? Black and full emptiness? Just there? Sitting or lying down, she couldn’t move or even speak because it felt like a hand was around her throat and whenever she tried to talk, it tightened itself.

She felt the tears slide down her cheeks. She couldn’t see anything, she wanted Cassian. She could feel herself trying to reach out for him but there was nothing there. It was like he didn’t exist, even when she did the sam
