Author’s POV

The air was cold, like something hung in it. Lucian was in his room, he had left the infirmary some minutes ago. He needed to take a break, breathe if he could help himself. The tension in the palace remained, the strange atmosphere that hung like a blanket.

He hadn’t seen Alpha Caden since Cassian had decided to take a step forward and he was glad for that. He had watched his brother, wanting to see when he would break but nothing had happened so far.

But it was time to go back. He couldn’t stand being away from her for so long. It was like the absence of seeing her was as physical as the dull ache in his chest. His eyes burned whenever they didn’t fall on her for too long and he rushed down the stairs towards the infirmary again.
