Chapter 15
“You did what?” Katrina asked incredulously, her voice shriller than she had meant for it to come out.
“I wrote a letter, Mom. It’s not a big deal,” Joey said defensively.
“It IS a big deal, Joey! It’s a huge deal!” Katrina argued helplessly.
“Why? I didn’t ask for anything really. He is the one that sent the tickets, I swear!” Joey explained and waved his newly acquired treasure in front of her.
Katrina took a deep breath. Of course Joey didn’t know what this meant for her, but for him, it was such a huge deal, how could she possibly say no?
“Joey you can’t just write to people and ask for stuff.”
“But I didn’t, I swear,” he repeated. “Mom, please! I can go, right? Please?”
Katrina felt like crying.
“Listen, let me see if Dad can take you. I will call him right now. “
She scrolled through her contacts with shaking hands and found her ex-husband’s name and clicked on it. “Oh please, dear Lord,” she mumbled
