Chapter 16
“Mom, wake up!” Joey shook Katrina’s shoulder, and she slowly sat up and yawned.
“Joey, it’s too early!” she said after looking at the alarm clock and fixing the pillows behind her so she could lay back down.
“But it’s game day, Mom! We need to get ready!” The excitement shone brightly in his big blue eyes.
“Joey. Dude. It’s six-thirty AM right now. The game starts at one PM. We have plenty of time,” Katrina said and tried to smooth down her hair, which felt like a rat’s nest. She must have been restless in her sleep, she figured. Not a huge surprise there.
“But we need to go early so we can be on the field!” Joey shook her shoulder again.
“Dude, the stadium is not open this early. We can’t go anytime soon. Just chill for a bit,” Kat mumbled in a sleepy voice. “Go watch Spongebob or something.”
“Ok, I will go make coffee for you,” Joey said and jumped out of the bed on impossibly energized legs.
