Chapter 43
Malia shut the book and returned it to its shelf. She stared at the envelope. It was a pale yellow and looked bulky. The envelope had a seal, but it came open easily. It was filled with papers.
Malia took one of the papers and unfolded it. It was a letter written in excellent penmanship. For a moment she was so stunned admiring the handwriting that she failed to see what was written in the letter.
It was a death threat.
Malia quickly folded it and opened another one. It was also a letter, but some kind of report about a job done well.
She felt her hands start to get clammy. Her heart raced in her chest and she felt bile creeping up her throat.
The other letters were death threats, reports, and more death threats. Malia stared at the envelope in her hands, wondering why Grant would have such things in his study.
And more importantly, why would he write letters to his parents threatening to end their lives?!
She quickly folde
