Chapter 6
A week later, Ava found herself right in the middle of a large event hall filled with the richest men and women of Las Vegas. It was a ravishing sight indeed. The golden-brown walls reflected the silver lights from the chandeliers that were apparently feeling as alone as she was. The walls shone of strayed fluorescent rays, spreading dull luminosity to every part of the hall. Ava could relate to their reluctant brightness, even though she had been forced into a golden gown that did not appease her fashion taste. Her eyes briefly glanced over to Lucas at the opposite end of the hall, he did not seem as tormented by the event as she was.
How could he? When a flock of thirsty young women surrounded him and he was encouraging their madness with his attention. One hand in the pocket of his black suit and the other hand over a glass of wine. She imagined torturing him to a bright blue suit. Perhaps he would not have that arrogant confidence in his face if she did.
