Genevieve POV
I called Laura at midnight. The line picked up on the third ring.
"Genevieve?" Laura asked, her voice thick with immediate suspicion.
Good. At least the woman wasn't completely naive.
"We need to talk."
"No," Laura fired back.
I smiled into the darkness of my office. "I haven't even told you what this is about."
"I know what this is about," Laura snapped, a tremor of anger masking her fear. "Whatever you want, the answer is no. I gave you the information you wanted last time. I made a mistake. I am not doing this anymore."
I leaned back in my plush chair, amused. Laura had managed to grow a spine. Unfortunately, spines were easy to snap.
"You sound confident for a woman who has spent the last six years carefully obscuring massive financial fraud," I mused aloud.
The line went dead silent.
"Where?" Laura final
