Chapter 73
As I walked through the door of my apartment, the familiar smell of home greeted me. It had been a long day at work, and I was hungry. I quickly made some noodles and sat down at the small dining table to eat, trying to shake off the events of the day.
As I slurped the noodles, my phone rang, and I saw my mother's name on the screen. I answered the call and greeted her with a tired but polite tone.
"Hi, Mom," I said, trying to muster up some enthusiasm.
"Reina, how are you doing in Toronto?" My mother's voice sounded concerned, as always.
"I'm doing okay, Mom," I replied, taking a sip of water. "I actually got a job at a company here...at Kylian's company."
There was a pregnant silence, before she said,
"Oh, that's great to hear, dear," my mother said, sounding relieved. "Is everything okay there? You know, with everything that happened with Kylian..."
