“Please, sit down. Let’s talk about the new scheduling changes,” David said.
She sat down and waited for him to go on.
“My assistant went over the schedules for the last six months,” he started. “And she found one thing consistently across the entire board.” He paused, allowing room for her to speak, but she just sat and waited.
“Everyone in this department works too much. The hours are too long to be conducive to efficiency or effectiveness. After a certain amount of time, we all need to recharge to be at our best, and the schedule we’re working with now is not allowing that for anyone.”
Gia nodded. She couldn’t deny it.
He went on.
“But the team most severely affected was actually you and your partner, Dustin.”
“Really?”
He nodded, and his face assumed the same confident expression that she’d noticed the night before when he told her he would find a way to get to see her more.
