Chapter 2

Lily was lost in thought as she made her way down the hall to her apartment. As she got closer she noticed that the door was slightly ajar. Her heart slammed against her ribs as she backed away and ducked behind a corner. She quickly dialed Travis’s phone.

“Ello?” he asked in his sexy gravelly voice.

“Hey where are you guys?” she whispered.

“We just pulled into your parking lot. Why?”

“I—I think someone’s in my apartment.”

“What? Get out of there. Meet us in the parking lot.” There was an edge of panic in his voice.

She didn’t have to be told twice as she raced down the hall and out the doors that lead to her lobby. She was only on the second floor, so it was a quick trip. The minute she burst free of the building she was crashing into Travis’s arms.

“I don’t know if anyone is in there, but the door was slightly open. I didn’t want to go in by myself.” Her words rushed out in one long sentence.
