Chapter 61. Fighting Back

Cage heard the gasping coming from Lacey’s room. He didn’t bother to knock but barged in.

Lucky was gasping for breath as Lacey continued to have her grip on him.

He held Lacey from behind, trying to force her to release Lucky. “Let go of him now!” Lucky yelled.

She ignored him. The fury she felt was to strangle Lucky.

Every attempt Cage made to break the hold was not successful. He was lost for ideas on what to do to let Lacey release Lucky from her grip. He didn’t want to be furious with her. All he had to do was win her over and get her to trust him.

He went on his knees and pleaded with Lacey. “You will kill him. Please, let go.”

Lacey growled like a furious wolf raging to maul its prey. She glanced at her uncle and finally released Lucky from her grip. “Let him stay away from me!”

Lucky whimpered like a scared little puppy and ran behind Cage.
