Chapter 78. Under the Dome

It was past midnight, and Ruby was meditating outside the hotel when the lights from the jeeps flashed her way. She hurried to her feet and headed straight to the gate, only to see heavily armed men getting ready to attack the hotel.

She sprinted toward the gatehouse and leaned on it, observing as they continued to draw their plans for the attack. Ruby paid attention to every detail they unfolded in their plot.

Ruby was shocked when she heard Mr. Cole say, “We will bring this hotel to ruin until my son comes back to Chicago with me.” She hadn’t seen Alex’s father before, but what the man said made her believe he was referring to Alex.

Shutting her eyes, she whispered a containment spell: “Lift the shield and let the inhabitants be protected.”

A blue light from the sky descended on the hotel, forming a dome over it. The blue light disappeared, but the dome remained, making it invisible. The men outside saw the blue light descend at the speed of light, and fear
