Chapter 92. Stay with Me
“How is she?” Lacey narrowed her gaze at Detective Jones. When she heard Ruby had been shot and rushed to the hospital, she left everything she was doing. She approached Detective Jones, who was sitting next to Ruby’s bed.
Ruby was on life support in the ICU. Detective Jones couldn’t get hold of himself. A sob escaped his lips as he barely muttered, “Not any better.”
The doctors had done what they could to remove the bullets from her. Nevertheless, she had not opened her eyes, although she still had a pulse.
Lacey hugged Detective Jones in consolation. “I have strong faith in her. She is fighting through this and will not leave us,” Lacey whispered.
It was a rough night for them. Detective Jones blamed himself for what happened. If he had never suggested embracing the werewolf nature and going to meet his brother, none of this would have happened.
“It’s my entire fault,” he sobbed uncontrollably on Lacey’s shoulder.
