I take down the first one before he can finish his sentence.

The other two around us are taken aback at the sudden attack, giving me a full five seconds to lunge forward and sink my teeth into the nap of the first man’s neck. He lets out a choked sound, his windpipe crushed instantly by my teeth, blood spattering in my mouth and onto the ground beneath him.

His body twitches under me, a stray arm coming up as his hand partially shifts to claw at me. It drops uselessly to the ground beside him right before it reaches me, his life leaving him a moment too soon.

I’m body slammed from the left, my teeth ripping through what remains of the shifter’s throat along the way. My shoulder hits the ground first, pain radiating through my body at the first smackdown.
