Chapter 54

After an excellent sparring session with Nocturne, we returned to the estate. Nocturne was pulled away by Sofia who needed her help confirming the budget before our departure to the battlefield, so I was left alone for the evening.

 “I will be having dinner in my quarters.” I told one of the butlers as I headed to my bedroom.

 “I will have it brought to you at once, my lord.” He bowed to me as I walked away. There was something I wanted to do before we left for the battlefield as well. I wanted to examine the God Killer. A longsword that contained the god of destruction was more than interesting to someone raised to study magic like me. I wonder how Ishtar was able to contain such a being anyway? Was the longsword just a powerful artifact she happened upon, or did she make it herself? Was its power divine in nature, or just a powerful kind of magic? My curiosity was ever growing, and I felt that the only way to get it to subside would be to examine the longsword.
