The holding account still showed the amount that had been in there for the past months now, meaning Ortega was yet to transfer the money. He wasn’t surprised, though; twenty-five million dollars was most definitely not the amount of money you could gather up in a heartbeat; no, Orty needed time. He had to be careful not to let him slack, though, or everything would be just one big joke at the end. He was tempted to call Jonas to ask him to check up on his men, but he didn’t want to pressure his friend into doing a poor job, so he left them be for the time being.
Beside him, Mia was busy on her phone, and he sighed at how content she looked despite the redness of her eyes and the insalubrious thinness of her entire body. Just a few hours more and much of their worries would be abated.
The urge that he had spent close to a year trying to quench rose within him, and he felt his mouth dry up. Luckily, he didn’t have any cigarettes around, so he was going to have to deal with
