I stood there, my eyes straining to adjust to the darkness of the room. The air was thick with tension, and the silence was oppressive. I could feel the weight of the men's gazes on me, their eyes fixed on me like cold, calculating instruments. My mouth was dry, and my heart was racing with fear. But as I looked around the room, I saw that my mouth was free, and I took advantage of it.
