Chapter 21. Trouble

"Number PP69, you have a visitor," a guard told me as I wiped the dusty windows clean. Before I could ask him anything, he walked away. A visitor? Whom could it be? I had no family and besides Dan's family, no friends as well. Was it a trick? After encountering the bold guard in the library, I did not doubt that they could pull a prank on me.

"Are we even allowed to have visitors?" April asked from the floor, scraping dried mud off the tiles.

"I guess so. Hasn't Edna ever come to visit you?"

April stopped scraping and sat crosslegged, a posture that was somehow comfortable for her.

"Edna is not related to me by blood. We share a father so she is actually my half-sister. She doesn't like me that much and she was not happy when I joined the family."
