Chapter 25. Kael

Nathaniel’s POV

I woke up and went to check on Kael in his room. I peeped in and saw him sleeping peacefully. I smiled satisfactorily and turned, and walked back to my room. I wondered if I wasn’t able to sleep because I felt the need to check on Kael, even though I knew there were people hired to do that already.

I got to my room and went to pour myself a glass, then I changed my mind and just went to lie in my bed. I wasn’t finding it hard to sleep because I was worried about Kael. I was finding it hard to sleep because I was worried about Rose.

What my assistant said made me feel like I was responsible for what she was going through. Yesterday, after we spoke, my assistant provided me with the name and other details of the bar where she worked. The man was a slob. An offer had already been made for the bar, and I could have it demolished the following week.

But was that what I really wanted? Just buying the bar wasn’t going to do it for me
