By the time they had gotten back home, the whole house was asleep already, except for the security guard who was on duty.

“They are all so cold in this house. They did not see us but did not bother to check on us,” Xavier said loudly as they entered the dark house.

“Shhhh,” Jessica said, putting her hand against his lips.

“What?” he asked, still in a loud voice.

“The whole house is sleeping. It will be unfair if we come in past twelve and then decide to wake them all up. If it were me, I’d also be mad,” she continued in a whisper.

“Don’t they care about us?”

“I’m very sure they do. Let’s go to bed now,” she said, pulling him toward the stairs.

“I don’t think they do,” he murmured as she pulled him.
