Chapter 31

Jessica had the food to her fill, and then she left for the house. She entered the house and went straight upstairs since she had already had a hearty dinner. As she pushed the door open, she saw Xavier sitting on the bed in casual wear. Her eyes went to the wristwatch on her wrist. It was barely past seven p.m., but Xavier was already home.

“You are home early?” she asked, entering the room and closing the door behind her.

She dropped her bag on the table and went over to the vanity table, removing her earrings and putting them into her jewelry box.

“Yes, I thought we could have dinner together as you suggested,” Xavier said, looking everywhere in the room except at her.

Jessica stared at Xavier through the mirror in front of her. She could sense his discomfort when he said that. He had taken all the courage he had to ask her
