The doctor moved Jessica to a private VIP ward as directed by Xavier. She didn’t know how long she had been asleep when she opened her eyes.

A sharp pain pulsed in her lower abdomen as she looked around. She carefully pushed herself up and scanned the room. Xavier was sitting on the sofa in the far corner.

“Stay down,” he said, walking over to her.

“What about work?” she asked, blinking repeatedly like an innocent child.
