Chapter 33
As Xavier let go of her hand for a moment, she felt her leg give way as she grew weak and then fell to the ground with a loud thud. Xavier, who was worried, looked at her on the floor, not moving or saying anything.
He put his finger next to her nose to feel if she was still breathing. Her breathing was slow, but it was still there. She was still alive. Xavier helped her back up and did not let go of her hand until he was able to put her back on the bed.
“Jessica, what’s wrong?” he asked, worried.
He had never had the chance to experience something like this. His hand grazed over her bare skin as he tried to lay her on the bed. He felt her fever rising. She was burning hotter than freshly brewed coffee.
