Chapter 7

“Would you like some breakfast?” Jessica asked, now feeling better.

It would be a bad thing if she avoided him. Being friends could put her mind at ease.

“I don’t eat breakfast,” Xavier said sharply.

“Come on. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day,” Jessica said in a playful tone. She was carefree, and although her mind was not fully detached from Burke, she was doing everything she could to distract herself from the fact that she had been dumped and married within a day.

“I don’t have breakfast,” Xavier said coldly, even more sharply than before.

“I’m a good cook. Remember, I’m a chef,” Jessica said convincingly.

“Drop it,” Xavier said and began to walk away.

“Maybe he doesn’t like breakfast,” she murmured to herself and shrug
