Chapter 17
On the weekend
Grace was getting ready to return to her family’s home, but there was no joy in her expression. She carried a heavy burden in her heart. Her parents had been pressuring her to marry soon after her sister’s tragic car accident. It seemed they had overlooked her own grief, focusing solely on their desires.
While she was in the middle of combing her hair, there was a knock on the door.
“Come in,” Grace called out, and the door opened to reveal Adam.
He stood behind her, his reflection visible in the mirror. Clad in a pristine white shirt, he looked like a celestial being from heaven. How could a man be this perfect?
“Are you ready? Can we head out?” Adam inquired.
“Huh… yeah, I’m ready. Let’s go,” she responded, rising from her chair.
She wasn’t wearing anything extravagant, just a plain dress without any fancy design. This puzzled him; why opt for such a simple outfit when returning to her family’s home?
