Chapter 25. Alone

Jimmy and Becky froze in fear. Before they could summon the courage to swift into action, the female fleet member raised the revolver to her head. She pressed it against her head and squeezed the trigger. “Bang!” it went as her lifeless body collapsed on the floor.

Jimmy looked shocked. This wasn’t what he anticipated. He thought she was gunning for them. Glancing at Becky with a distorted face of sadness, “What will happen to her daughter?” he barely squeezed out.

“She’s officially an orphan,” Becky said without looking up. Her gaze was constantly on the corpse of the female fleet member. Her mind raced with thoughts. ‘What is our fate going back to earth? It’s gonna be lonely without people around.’

She was alone with Jimmy just as before. It was a plus for them both that she could easily navigate a Sulaco. Thanks to NASA for recruiting her, but no thanks for getting her ass fired and sent to a psychiatric hospital.
