Alex POV

“What the hell, man?” Cedric said the moment we heard the door of her room close.

I leaned back against the couch. “What?”

“I thought the girl would be dead by now. You told me yourself she tried to kill you earlier today.”

Thanks to my powerful genes as a hybrid, I had heightened senses and could see and hear things from a far distance. I had seen her aiming the rifle at me. I remembered the look on her face when our eyes met.

I shrugged. “She didn’t go through with it.”
