Amber POV

I watched Alex calmly seated behind his desk, his eyes focused on the screen before him as if what I had just said didn’t matter at all.

“Didn’t you hear me? Elsie is an assassin sent to kill you. She’s dangerous” I repeated.

He finally looked up but his expression was blank.

Realization hit me hard. He knew.

“You knew yet all these time, you paraded her around like a lovesick fool”

“You shouldn’t be here, Amber. You should be resting….”

“Don’t pretend you are worried about me” I cut in. “You slept in the same house with her. She could have poisoned you. She could have stabbed you in your sleep. How could you be this reckless?”

“She didn’t,” he said sharply.

My brows furrowed tightly, unable to believe what I had just heard. “She didn’t? That’s your answer? I’m not spending another night in that house if you don’t get rid of her”

He shrugged indifferently. “Go ahead”

Blood rushed to my face in anger.
