Elsie POV

I waited until I was certain Alex had left for work. I slipped in, plastering a smile as I passed by the kitchen staff.

My heart hammered in my chest as I moved quickly towards the room I had stayed in. I pulled out the key to the nightstand drawer where I had hidden my handgun and dagger.

I had planned to disappear completely, never to return.

I packed it up and turned to leave only to see Amber standing behind me with her arms crossed.

I screamed and jumped back and almost tripped. I didn’t know how long she had been standing there.

She stared at me like a predator accessing its prey.

I moved backwards until I was backed against the wall. “I didn’t hurt him, I swear. I couldn’t. If you would just let me go, you will never see me again!”

I said in a single breath.

I thought of threatening her with a gun but after learning of their true identity, I knew she could kill me before I could draw the gun.
