Cedric POV

I took the elevator down to the tenth floor. After a long, awful meeting with the stakeholders, seeing Amber was just what I needed.

I fixed my tie as the elevator dinged and slid open. My eyes scanned the floor and found Amber seated by her desk. However, my smile froze when I noticed a bouquet of roses sitting on her table.

What surprised me was not the flower, but the smile on her lips as she read the card attached to it.

Jealousy twisted in my stomach.

I approached her desk and knocked on it gently before she finally noticed I was standing there.

Her smile faded into something neutral. “Cedric, hi”

My eyes flicked to the roses, trying my best not to sound jealous. “Nice flowers. Who sent them?”

She waved a hand dismissively. “No one is important. Just a friend I haven’t seen in a while”

“Really”

I snatched the card away from her before she could stop it. Her eyes widened and she tried to take it back.<
