Chapter 76

Raya’s POV

Matilda fell asleep holding my hand tightly as if for dear life. I pet her hair and when she was fast asleep I tried to leave but even in her sleep she held onto my hand, so I settled to pass the night in her room.

I reflected on the incidents of the past couple of days and came to the conclusion that I would not trade the life I had lived up until now for such a sad one hidden behind vain power and wealth. Although my father had not live very long, I was glad he lived an honorable life.

If he had been anything close in nature to Lord Christopher, I refused to imagine what my childhood would have been like. I could not bring myself to terms with a father who did not think twice before asking me to marry my brother and then telling me to carry his seed.

I remembered times before things had gone awry for my family I used to have cause to interact with Tamar and the few times I had done so I had thought she was the meanest person to ever exist
