Chapter 79

Keenan’s POV

Lord Christopher’s words were still ringing in my ear as I entered Thallus’s study having been made aware by a guard that I had missed the Alpha by a few minutes in the throne room and I was to proceed to his study.

One thing I could detect from Lord Christopher was that he believed he was untouchable. He had not cared to veil his threats nor had he had any reservations about telling me that he controlled the palace and Thallus was more or less a figurehead with no real power. His overconfidence was one of the reasons he was going to fall.

“What took you so long? It is too early for you to start neglecting your duties, don’t you think?” asked Thallus as I entered his study.

“I apologize, Your Majesty. Lord Christopher stopped me on my way to the throne room,” I informed him. I saw him freeze momentarily when I said this.
