Adrianna’s POV
As soon as he walked out the door, my knees gave in, and I collapsed to the floor, clutching my chest as I drew in sharp gasps.
Why did it still hurt? I thought it wouldn’t hurt this much, but I lied; it hurt as though a thousand daggers were piercing my chest.
I sniffed as I crawled towards the edge of the bed. Suddenly, a knock echoed. I didn’t respond; even a word was too difficult for me to say, so I stared at the door.
I listened to the constant knock until the door cracked open and Marcus’s head peeped in.
“Hi,” he murmured, walking into the room.

My brow slowly raised. Without caring, I sat on the floor, my back resting against the steel frame of the bed as I stared at him.
