Chapter 172. Dark Turmoil

Saelyna released her grasp and took a step away from him, her face clouded with uncertainty as she asked, “Are we alright? Do you need some water?” She fiddled around on a nearby table, unable to look at Caivan as she retrieved two small cups from the tray.

“No, thank you,” Caivan responded, struggling to remain standing upright as he accepted the cup offered to him. Despite his earlier attempts to stay calm, he still trembled uncontrollably, his fingers gripping the rim of the cup as he clutched onto it for dear life. His entire being rebelled against the sensation of weakness and helplessness that assailed him. ‘Is this because of what I just witnessed? How do I stop him?!’ Caivan silently implored.

“Can you tell me what happened here?” Saelyna inquired. “I’ve been awake for a little while now, but I can’t remember anything.”

Caivan paused, his hesitation increasing as his mouth became dry and heavy with unshed tears. Finally, he gathered enough courage to reply,
