Chapter 175. Rogue Attack
“This is not how I wanted the day to start,” the guard muttered as he picked up a handful of snow.
“And it would seem we are already behind schedule,” Caivan added. “We are running late.”
“Maybe we’ll make it by noon,” the guard suggested, although both he and Caivan knew that it was highly unlikely. He’d already seen how long it could take for them to catch up with their goal. If they continued on like this, it might take a little longer than he expected.
Before either of them could respond, a shrill scream pierced the air, snapping them out of their thoughts. They whipped their heads around frantically to search for the source; their eyes scanning their surroundings in hopes of seeing anything that may have caught their attention while their ears strained in the hopes of hearing any trace of movement.
The sound repeated itself several more times, causing the guards to raise a brow. This time, however, it sounded farther away and closer at the same time. The
