Chapter 47. So Broken
My eyes widened in horror while my cheeks heated up in second-hand embarrassment when Rose clarified my misunderstanding. I bit my tongue and lowered my face. How stupidly embarrassing!
I didn't dare look at Aaron's expression.
Damn, I'm such an idiot.
“I will see you later, Aaron,” Rose said and got up from her seat. “I hope you have a good time, Veronica.” With that, she walked away.
Once she left, I got off from Aaron's lap and mumbled hurriedly, “I'm sorry about that. I thought you were dating her while we are not divorced yet. I, uh, I will take my leave.”
As I turned around to leave, Aaron caught my wrist and let out, “Do you think it's a game?”
I froze and looked at him in shock. “What are you saying?”
“You can't just waltz in here like that and claim that you are my wife after not responding to my calls and texts for the last two months,” he said, tightening his grip on my hand, almost bruising it.
