“You look stressed. What happened?” Lyle asked over breakfast as he snuck up behind me in the pantry. I placed a butter croissant on my plate next to a slice of mango. I looked at the other types of bread and picked up one apple turnover. It smelled amazing, and I couldn't remember the last time I had one.
“Just some things at home…”
“With the law office. I heard they’re handling the Gomez dr*g case.”
I frowned. Good for Lyle to know those things; I didn’t even know what case that was. All I knew was that they had an important hearing this coming Monday. Tomorrow.
“Yes, I think so… The law office is fine. Dad’s always a perfectionist, so I guess they’re as busy as bees. That’s not what concerns me, though.”
Lyle picked up a salad bowl from the corner of the pantry. I looked at him, and he raised his brow. I shrugged. Salad for breakfast? Bold choice.
