Chapter 18. Your Days of Sleeping on Dirt Are Over
Third-Person POV
The first thing Hannah took note of as she walked into the tiny office was the fat woman behind the desk.
“Good morning,” she spoke in her usual soft voice.
The woman eyed her through the lens that was based on her nose. She barely responded with a grunt.
The lady’s arrogance did nothing to suit Hannah’s nerves. She felt a knot tighten in my stomach.
“Why are you still on your feet?” the woman snapped at her with a voice that could easily pass for a man’s.
She smiled as she had always done when nervous before taking the only available seat.
Her smile only irritated the woman who thought she looked like a clown.
Hannah fidgeted with her fingers as she gathered the courage to speak to the woman who had long gone back to working on her system.
