Chapter 18. Life Without Lucas

Lena’s POV

I was greeted by a bright light shining down on me as soon as I opened my eyes. A groan escaped my lips as I squinted my eyes to adjust to the light.

“Lena, you’re awake.” I heard my mom say and I turned to see her worried eyes looking at me with bags under them.

I tried to sit up and my mom stood up to support me. I rested my back on the pillow and asked, “Mom, why are you here? You should be in the nursing home receiving your treatment.”

“How can I do that when my daughter almost killed herself and is lying unconscious in the hospital?” she argued back. “What were you thinking to endanger yourself like that? You could have died.”

I knew I would still be Liam Pretakis biological daughter even if I drained out all the blood in my body but I was just too angry at him and wanted to show him how much I hated him.

“I’m sorry, mom.” I took her hand in mine. “I shouldn’t have made you worry.”
