Lena’s POV
My legs were rooted on the spot as my fingers tightened against the arm of my bag. Her words landed like stones in my chest, heavy and merciless.
It was not because I was surprised by what she said, but I felt like my pride was hurt and trashed that she was able to say it to my face so confidently that Lucas would pick her over me anytime despite me being his mate.
Though I shouldn’t feel bad because I was not his mate anyways but she didn’t know that and it hurt even more
Liana’s gaze lingered on me for a moment before she added, “I don’t mean to hurt you. But it’s better to know the truth than to live in an illusion.”
I managed a stiff nod my throat too tight to form words. “Thank you for telling me the truth. I really appreciate your concern.”
