Chapter 42. I’m Now a Dog Owner

Lena’s POV

Lucas handed me a cup of water as I began to cough. He rubbed my back as I drank the water and calmed down.

“Are you trying to kill me?” I narrowed my eyes on him.

He leaned back into his seat. “I didn’t expect you to react like that. It’s just a harmless dog.”

I gaped in shock. “Harmless? That thing is twice my size. Why would you even come up with that kind of decision?”

“Because you’re his owner too and he needs your company,” he said causally as if he wasn’t trying to push me to my doom.

“He doesn’t need my company,” I replied, emphasizing every word. “He doesn’t even like me, so I don’t see the point in this.”

Without giving me a response, Lucas stood up, took my hand and dragged me up to my feet before pulling me outside with him. He went to Atlas’ dog house and I quickly hid behind him.
