Chapter 41. She’s Not Vulnerable Like Before
Mason’s POV
Sophie’s little arms still draped over my neck, hiccuping into my chest as I carried her downstairs to the C & A store. Claire followed beside me with a frown on her face.
“Oh my God, she’s crying all over again,” Claire shook her as she caressed Sophie’s hair. “What in the world was Max thinking, going to her school like that? That’s so irresponsible. You really need to talk some sense into your brother. No offense.”
I smiled at myself. “What exactly do you say to him? It’s difficult to talk sense to a man who is trying to win over the heart of a woman he loves.”
Claire’s footsteps behind me stopped. “What?”
I walked into the store and sat Sophie down on the chair. I wiped her tears with my handkerchief. “You okay, princess?” I whispered.
