Chapter 43. Business Trip

Ava’s POV

The opening ceremony proceeded as scheduled. There were more crowds than expected and reporters covering the events. But throughout the whole event, I couldn’t help but focus on Max who hadn’t said a word the whole day. After what happened with Sophie, he has been distant and I hated the fact that I cared.

After the opening ceremony, I attempted to focus on work, to keep myself occupied with meetings and reports, but I couldn’t stop thinking about him, hoping that he looked in my direction when he walked into the department store every morning. I ought to be relieved that he was finally leaving me alone like I wanted. But it only made me wonder whether something was wrong.

Friday came sooner than I had expected.
